PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Greening Government Program Manager – Governor’s Energy Office, July 2009 to present

Direct the “Lead By Example” program for state government and oversee all aspects of the Greening Government Executive Orders.  Direct state agency efforts to attain the Governor’s Greening Government goals for reductions in consumption of energy, petroleum, paper, water, greenhouse gases; and an increase in landfill diversion.  Chair the Greening Government Council comprised of appointees from each Executive Agency and Higher Education.  Coordinate Greening Government Council development of Annual Report Cards to the Governor; direct statewide implementation of utility tracking software; initiate the first state reporting of comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions from statewide operations; arrange for state and local government training to improve agency building operations for energy and water reductions; administer deployment of $500,000 in grants for energy and water conservation capital improvements and energy reduction actions (refrigerator replacements and power management for computer workstations); develop greening government executive order for Governor’s signature on Earth Day 2010; serve on Transportation Environmental Resource Committee, Sustainability Subcommittee.

Researched environmental remediation technologies (70% time commitment) pertinent to discontinued hard rock mining activities.  Expertise established on remediation of Acid Mine Drainage using constructed wetlands, bactericides and cover materials; and on reclamation of disturbed surfaces.  Research involved discussions with US Bureau of Mines, US Department of Agriculture, US Forest Service, US EPA, US Geological Survey, and a multitude of university researchers and consultants.  Participation (30% time commitment) in Corporate HSE auditing group, serving ARCO’s domestic and international businesses.

1992 to 1994

Implemented and directed environmental programs throughout US and international operations.  Participated in HSE compliance audits and management systems reviews of operating facilities, acquisitions and divestitures.  Insured compliance with ARCO corporate policies and procedures.  Represented ARCO Coal on environmental issues through national and state trade association committees.  Provided environmental management for inactive, company-held properties.  Reviewed planning and participated in decommissioning a uranium mill.
